About Dr Trewavas
Dr Chris Trewavas is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and APS College of Clinical Psychologists. He is endorsed as a clinical psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
He is required to maintain these associations by undertaking regular professional development training and adhering to strict ethical and legal guidelines.
Chris studied a 4-year sequence in psychology at Monash University and completed his doctorate in clinical psychology at Deakin University. His 4th year thesis focused on the problem of deliberate self-harm and has been published. His doctoral thesis examined the role of the Internet in psychological healthcare and was presented at the 7th Annual International Conference on Psychology held in Athens, Greece.
As a scientist-practitioner, he has received decade of training in evidence-based clinical psychological assessment, diagnosis and treatment and has over a decade of clinical experience. Prior to becoming a psychologist, he worked for 14 years in the youth welfare sector, providing case management and crisis response to young people and families.
